Government plan to spy on Kenyan's private phone conversation has been termed illegal by the High Court on Thursday April 19.

The idea to tap calls was challenged by the Consumer Federation of Kenya (CoFeK) on grounds that it was against the law and rights of mobile users

The governemnt in conjuction with the communication Authority held that the plan was meant to curb cyber crime.

Ealier on the former director of the Communication Authority Francis Wangusi wrote a letter to Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom Kenya to allow the government to implement the plan.
It's now a relieve to Kenyans following Justice John Mativo ruling on the matter

Baringo South Mp Succumbs to cancer

Baringo South Member of Parliament Grace Kipchoim died on Friday morning April 20,while undergoing treatment in Nairobi Hospital after a long battle with colon cancer.

Kipchoim was elected for her second term in office on a jubilee ticket on August 8th elections.

Recently Laikipia Women Representative Catherine Waruguru tabled a motion in the National Assembly proposing cancer to be declared a national disaster and required an establishment of cancer funds to help Kenyans who cannot afford high costs of treatment. The motion which the legislators supported unanimously now awaits president Uhuru Kenyatta's assent.
Statistics shows that more than 28,500 people die of cancer every year; poverty being one of the main reason leading to high mortality rates.

Kenya To Join The World To Mark World Malaria Day

The health Cabinet Secretary Cecil Kariuki has appointed Hannah Murithi to chair the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) board while Mudzo Nzili appointed as her deputy in the board.

Speaking in Nairobi the Cs echoed president Uhuru Kenyatta's agenda of allocating funds to the health sector.
This appointments comes in as Kenya prepares to join the world on 25th April 2018 to mark World Malaria Day. 

The occassion "Ready to Beat Malaria" is set to take place in Kisii county.
Malaria is among the killer disease in the country particularly among expectant women and children below five (5) years.

NCPB Promise To Pay Farmers

The National Cereals and Produce Board has assured maize farmers that they will get their money from the board.

Speaking on Wednesday 18th April 2018 the board's chairperson Mutea Iringo said the delay was as a result of challenges experienced in the board which the are working on it to resolve
He gave assurance concerning food security in the country which is among President Uhuru Kenyatta's big four agenda in his second term in office.
Kenya was hit earlier on by drought in the arid and semi-arid lands because of its peculiar eco-climatic conditions. As a consequence there has been food insecurity.

Seven injured,one dead after an engine explosion of a Southwest Airline Jet.

Jennifer Riodan, a mother of two and bank vice president at Wells Fargo in Albuquerque has died. Jennifer died after she was partially sucked out of a window of a US Passenger plane after an engine exploded mid-air

According to BBC News seven passengers were injured during the accident. The Southwest Airlines Flight 1380 made an emergency landing in Philadelpha after a window, wings and fuselage were damaged.
Witnesses say the woman was pulled back in by other passengers after the engine on the plane's left side blew, smashing a window hence causing cabin depressurisation that nearly sucked her out.

Sources indicates that Mr. Ngome expected to appear on Sulwe Fm as a guest to one of its Radio talk shows which was to be conducted at around 7am.

IEBC Falls Apart

A few days after the resignation of the three IEBC commissioners Consolata Nkatha Maina, Paul Kurgat and Margaret Mwachanya, parliament has revived the tactics of selecting a panel to recruit new officials to replace the current sitting office.

The majority leader of the National Assembly Aden Duale has written a letter to the Justice and Legal Affair Committe chaired by William Cheptumo asking it to put in place plans to remove the two commissioners and their chair Wafula Chebukati.
Speaking on Tuesday, Duale said that the commission had failed in its work and the chair Wafula Chebukati is to be blamed.
In addition, Duale disagrees with politicians on nomination of new commissioners saying it will interfere with their work as an independent body.
Issues in the IEBC emerged after Kenya's supreme court annulled the results of the August 8th 2017 presidential elections citing irregularities and ordered a repeat of it within 60 days.
