Atwoli Elected As A Member of International Labour Conference


COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli has been elected overwhelmingly as a member of the International Labour Conference as of Monday 28th May. Francis Atwoli 70 years old, has been the current Secretary General of Central Organization of Trade Unions since 2002.

Francis Atwoli, the man famous for his fanatic and critical speeches, was proposed by the president of the International Trade Union Confederation and his African counterpart Mody Guiro (African Regional Organization). Atwoli was supported overwhelmingly by over 5000 delegates.
 In a statement on Monday morning, COTU said that Atwoli will be charged with the responsibility of articulating, pushing and defending African workers agenda and that the conditions of workers are favorable to all workers.

In his acceptance remarks Atwoli said that he was humbled by the trust the continent and his colleagues had placed in him through the unanimous election. He vowed to remain true and called African workers to be in relentless pursuit of social justice for workers.
