Harambee stars are preparing to face Equatorial Guinea in
the qualifying match, the second tier of the African women’s cup of nations (AWCON).
The provisional squad has come with its fair share of surprises with the on
form goal keeper of Vihiga queens Lilian Awour among the nominees to be in the goal.
She has not been present in the previous outings and notably missed the match
against Uganda on a two legged series.
The national team coach David Oserian is preparing his team
before they host their opponents on June 6 at the Kenyatta stadium
in Machakos on a two legged home and away match. Should the team win they will return
to AWCON later in the year. The provisional squad is scheduled to start
training on Tuesday, May 22. The majority of the members are from
the Vihiga queens among them defender Phelistas Kadari and striker Teresha Engesha.
