The Kenya meteorological department has warned the western,
central, north Rift Valley, northern and central regions of flash floods that
may pound the regions from Monday May 21. The report states that areas in the Western
Basin, Trans-nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Kakamega and Laikipia counties will experience
extremely heavy rainfall in a short period of time with lows of not less than
50 mm per fall.

The department has further warned that the rains may take
over a period of five days in some areas and others may experience lightening
as a result. In its report the department has urged locals not to walk in
moving water or drive through it. Residents are advised to keep to higher
grounds and remain indoors. Furthermore the flood waters may spill over to
areas where it has not rained. Heavy rainfall of more than 50mm is expected per
session.
