Officers in the National Youth Service (NYS) In
charge of Procurement Finance and Accounting have been sent on a compulsory
leave following the Ksh. 9billions saga in the department.
In a statement on Sunday, the Public Service, Youth
and Gender Affairs Cabinet Secretary Professor Margaret Kobia said that the
involved officers should proceed on compulsory leave with immediate effect to
allow investigators to complete their work.

On Friday May 9th, public service
principal secretary Lilian Omollo and NYS General Richard Ndubai stepped aside
in order to allow for Investigation concerning the fraud saga.
The team investigating the scandal have questioned
Ms Omollo and Mr. Ndubai a couple of times concerning the issue. In line with
the investigation, the police have frozen accounts of 13 firms alleged to have received
Ksh. 121million from NYS.
This comes in as Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo called
for disbandment of NYS. Speaking in Mombasa during the third Annual Legislative
Meeting, Senator Mutula said that NYS has failed the country and should work
under the ministries of Devolution and Youth adding that it has not performed
the projects assigned in different counties.
